"I think the future actor has to have different ears, different eyes, different heart, different will, different feelings, different everything." Michael Chekhov
Let's dive into the wealth of ideas and inspiration to be found in the Michael Chekhov Archive, a digital collection of Chekhov's notes, class plans, lectures, and more -
WHAT'S NEW?
If you enjoy the approach of Michael Chekhov you will love discovering more of his ideas in this guided exploration of the Chekhov Archive!
This fall we started at the beginning and worked our way in eight classes, combining discussion with practice, taking class with Michael Chekhov and each other. Each class focused on fresh takes on the Chekhov Acting Technique, what this method offers the performing actor, what it offers those teaching acting, and what Chekhov refers to as the Theatre of the Future, found in this digital archive. This winter we will continue as we work our way through all of it!
THIS IS A BOLD EXPERIMENT!
Obviously, it will take more than a few eight-week sessions to explore all the archives. The plan is to offer ongoing eight-week sessions, fall, winter, spring, and summer - however long it takes to work our way to the end of this amazing resource. If you can take the whole journey - great! If you can only come to some sessions, you will be joining us wherever we are in the process - it will all be good! All students who sign up and pay for an eight-week session will have access to all the class recordings for that session.
This course is for actors, singers, theatre directors, theatre teachers, and anyone interested in Michael Chekhov's contributions to art and humanity. All are welcome!
