We will engage Michael Chekhov’s tools, especially gestures and sensations, and discover an effective improvisational rehearsal process to bring the scene to life.

“…the artist must see. desire. and dream of finding an archetype behind the character he is going to perform.” Michael Chekhov
The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique opens doors to our imagination while giving us solid craft for doing our work as actors. This class in the online studio focuses on an important aspect of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique: Archetypes.
Working with tools of the Chekhov Acting Technique, we will explore archetypes, examine how we recognize them in our contemporary cultures and in plays, TV, and films. We will see how we can use the understanding of archetypes to develop our characters, to find what lies beneath the surface of a human being.
This course is for actors, theatre directors, and theatre teachers to explore creating characters with the Chekhov Technique. Bring your curiosity and passion and to imagine, improvise, and discover.
